Religions and Cremation -
Most faiths and religions permit cremation with the exception of Orthodox Jewish, Eastern Orthodox, Islamic and a few Fundamentalist Christian faiths.

Cremations for Catholics -
There are a number of Catholics who still believe that the church forbids cremation. The reforms of the Second Vatican Council touched upon all areas within the life of the Church, including funerals and burial rites. “The Catholic Church strongly  recommends the pious custom of burial be intact, but it does not forbid cremation, unless it happens to be chosen for reasons contrary to Christian teaching.”
