Our credibility stems from a long history and proven track record of successful outcomes.
For pilots with disqualifying medical diagnoses that require special issuance authorizations, the path to certification may at times prove to be difficult and complex to navigate alone. Our experienced team will guide you through the process from beginning to end, optimizing the probability of a favorable outcome. We expertly manage the details of your case and guide you through the complicated process from initial assessment, to final submission, and ongoing monitoring.
With a nationwide client base, the Center serves pilots from virtually all facets of aviation, both private and commercial. The Center enjoys a strong reputation for successful outcomes, preserving the careers and futures of professional and private aviators alike.
At the Center for Aviation Medicine, we remain committed to providing the highest level of consultative services focused on the specific needs of each individual pilot and their circumstances. The FAA aeromedical certification process has become detailed and involved and at times difficult to navigate alone. Being experienced and familiar with the nuances and pitfalls can be essential to assuring a favorable outcome, particularly when there is a career or livelihood in the balance.
Our highly experienced team, some of whom are professional pilots as well, will help you navigate through these challenges and work towards reinstatement of your medical certificate. We have built valuable relationships throughout the aviation industry, granting you access to crucial resources and expert advice to support your journey towards regaining your medical certificate. Our keen eye for detail, “hands-on” approach, combined with our expertise and experience in both medicine and aviation, allows us to provide you with unique, customized, and comprehensive assistance to keep you flying.
Failing to report medically disqualifying conditions on your FAA medical application could result in significant legal consequences, including revocation of certificates and licenses (medical and airman).
Whether an innocent oversight or intentional omission due to fear or apprehension led to the withholding of such information, the FAA Aerospace Medical Certification Division requires validation that there are no medical conditions, current or continuing, which would preclude medical certification or adversely affect safety of flight. While we oversee the medical component in such cases, legal consultation with an attorney specializing in aviation law is encouraged.
Currently, members of the United States Armed Forces who at the time of separation received a disability benefit they may not have disclosed at the time of their application for a medical certificate are now being required to account for the relevant medical facts pertaining to that omission. At the Center, we have successfully resolved many of those cases to the benefit of our airmen.
The HIMS (Human Intervention Motivation Study) Monitoring Program is a specialized drug and alcohol recovery program designed to support pilots, both professional and recreational. HIMS is a three way relationship between the pilot and their union, their employer, and the FAA. It is a tried and tested program which focuses on rehabilitation, monitoring, and is the fastest path to recertification. The program provides monitored treatment opportunities while at the same time fulfilling FAA certification criteria.
At the Center for Aviation Medicine, we collaborate with a nationwide network of HIMS trained AMEs, psychiatrists, and neuropsychologists to sponsor and supervise the certification process as well as verify sustained sobriety. Utilizing our team of HIMS-trained experts, we skillfully evaluate, and monitor pilots diagnosed with substance use disorders.
At the Center, we work hand-in-hand with you to organize your treatment plan while meticulously monitoring and documenting your progress. This includes participating in AA or NA sessions, and undergoing unannounced, random drug and alcohol testing. We also collect reports from your chief pilot, peer pilots, and addiction counselors. Throughout each phase, we provide expert guidance, ensuring you receive the best possible care while verifying your progress and sustained sobriety.
