Beinhauer Cremation Services in Pittsburgh is here to help you make the right decision when it comes to making arrangements for your loved one during this difficult time. Cremation is an alternative to the traditional burial service.
A person may choose cremation for a number of reasons. It may be for religious reasons, personal reasons or social factors. Even if you choose cremation as your preferred method of disposition, you may still take advantage of a full visitation at the funeral home. Sometimes a family feels that a small private gathering before the cremation is the best way for them to say goodbye to their loved one. No matter what you choose, there are many options available which can help you make your decisions.
Cremation is becoming more popular, and this may be due to simplicity, environmental concerns, flexibility in ceremony planning, or economic reasons. Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes has generations of solid reputation and experience in cremation services. The Beinhauer family actually built the very first crematory in Pittsburgh in 1921. It is still in operation today and is recognized as the second oldest continuously operating crematory in the United States.

Funeral Service and Cremation -
As with a traditional burial option, cremation can be performed after a traditional funeral service celebrating the life of the deceased with the casket present at one’s place of worship or a funeral home chapel. Often, the only difference between a funeral celebration of life followed by a traditional burial and one followed by cremation is that the body is transported to the crematory after the services instead of to the cemetery/memorial park.
The Memorial Service and Cremation -
The Memorial Service is a remembrance service without the body present. A family may choose to have the cremation performed and then hold a service in a church or at a funeral home with the cremated remains displayed in an urn. This is usually accompanied by flowers and a photo of the deceased.
Private viewing for immediate family members is usually requested before cremation. It is a fact that family participation in helping with the arrangements for a deceased loved one can greatly assist in the grieving process. It provides closure and the opportunity to say goodbye.
