Preparing Your Home For a Move
Moving in to your new home can be a very exciting experience, but the prospect of having to completely clean out and clean up your former home can be something that you simply dread doing. After years of living in a home, it's easy to accumulate a lot of stuff. Some things you may want to keep while others things may just be a bunch of junk. Not only will you need to de-clutter and pack away most of your belongings before the big move, but you may also have obligations to clean your home before the sale becomes final. Debo Moving, based out of Aliquippa, PA, can help you to store and move your belongings while you finish up preparing for the home moving process.
De-Cluttering
The first thing that you will want to do when preparing for the home moving process is to completely de-clutter your home. Rather than packing up every single thing that you own, it is ideal to take this time to sort through everything and decide if it's really something that you still want or need. Start de-cluttering by going through items and deciding if you need it or use it. If not, then it can be sold, donated or thrown away to free up some extra space in your home and within your boxes. Household moves can be made much smoother when there is less to bring with you.
Storage Solutions
Household moves may need storage solutions for their belongings in-between the time that they move out of their old home and the time that they move in to their new home. Storage may also be ideal during home moving when you need to remove clutter for showing your home to potential buyers. Leaving your beloved belongings in storage can truly benefit the staging of your home when selling.
Cleaning up the Home
When preparing for household moves, it is important to perform a certain amount of cleaning that is expected of you. Cleaning should be done before putting your home on the market and showing it to potential buyers and should also be cleaned again right before moving out. In fact, many sellers are not aware that cleaning is expected of them before moving when it may actually be included in their contract. As you are starting the home moving process, be sure to go over all contracts to see if there are specific areas of your home that must be cleaned. Some areas of your home that you will want to clean include the floors, walls, inside of the appliances, inside of cabinets and any hard water or mold build-up.
Disconnecting Utilities
Household moves would not be complete without remembering to have your utilities turned off for the day after you plan to move out. Your utilities may also be able to be transferred to your new home, depending on where you are moving. This includes water, cable, electricity, internet, phones and more.
By taking advantage of these tips and steps, preparing your home for a move will be as easy and as smooth as possible. When planning accordingly, moving doesn't have to be a stressful experience.
